The answer to this question actually involves a series of questions that will help us get to the root of the problem so that we may begin work where our efforts will actually bring the desired results we are hoping for.

After you have read this blog post, you will have an understanding of how to apply this powerful technique to solving almost every obstacle or problem in your life including the burning question that was posed at the beginning of the post.

How I Got My Teen To Quit Fortnite

I was working in my home office when I heard the loud bang coming from my son’s room. It wasn’t the first time today either and I had gone in previously to see what was going on. I got up and hurried into his room and saw him unsuccessfully holding back tears and pointing at his tv. The bang came from him slamming his fist on his desk.

“What happened?” I asked and he responded with the same thing he did the last time I had asked him.

“Fucking hackers!” He was vibrating with so much anger that he couldn’t even look at me. He sat there staring at his screen. And in the next moment, he hit a button on his controller and immediately put himself in a cue to start another game.

“I see you just started another game, let me grab my chair so that I can see for myself how bad the hackers are. I’d like to help you if I can.” I left his room to get my chair and while doing so, started to think about how I was going to help him.

Gaming Is A Dangerous Hobby. Here's Why.

As an admin for a rapidly growing Facebook Group called Destroy Your Digital Distraction And Get Primed For Life, who’s purpose is to help provide support and refuge for people who are struggling with video game addiction, I have come to learn that there is a growing trend of parents who are themselves the ones becoming addicted to video games in addition to the children.

As a recovered video game addict myself and a parent of two teens, I still enjoy playing video games from time to time, both with my kids and by myself. I have learned firsthand the consequences of losing track of what is important in life. I have learned the importance of living a life built on a foundation of values and I educate my kids to live the same way.

I mention this because I know how easy it is to lose track of what is important, especially when it involves video games. We all know that video game addiction is on the rise. According to Statista, the number of active gamers worldwide will rise to...

A Wake-up Call For Gamer Parents

As I write this article, we are in the middle of the covid19 quarantine and as a result, millions have been forced to work from home and unfortunately, millions more have lost their jobs and are forced to stay at home unsure what to do with their time.

For millions of families, this has put extreme stress on the relationships and marriages of those who have been affected and as a result, many have turned to finding ways to “escape” from their current reality to help them cope with the stress of the current situation. Some turn to booze and drugs while others turn to what they feel is a much less harmful escape, video games.

While the focus of video game addiction is almost always focused on the kids, I’m here calling out the adults who have fallen victim to their addictions. If you are reading this article and you are not the adult in the household who...

The Dream Is The Journey, Not The Destination.

Take a minute and think about the big things you want to accomplish in your life. Close your eyes and imagine what it would feel like as you experience whatever it is that you are dreaming about. Is your partner taking a picture of you standing in front of the Great Pyramid of Giza? Maybe your catching up on your emails while you’re behind the wheel of your self-driving Tesla? Maybe you want to be the next hockey sensation, or you simply want to find and fall in love with your soul mate?

We all have these dreams; these aspirations that we want to accomplish during our lifetime but for many of us, the dream simply seems to big to be achievable. We have no idea how we’re going to accomplish these momentous goals so rather than trying to figure out how we will accomplish them, we create this narrative in our head that we have too many “important” things to do and don’t have “time” for chasing these fantasies.

If you want to watch today's...

Are you prepared for the next pandemic?

In Dec 2019, news reported that a previously unknown virus that was behind a number of pneumonia cases in Wuhan. What started as an epidemic quickly evolved to a global pandemic. At the time of my writing this article, The World Health Organization (WHO) https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019?fbclid=IwAR2NZq8_DUx4GlHrkWJrJfcy7Vw0FJ68Sr38Scc_12BUnIPJIQvd7R47EGo

reports that 190 countries, areas or territories have 332,935 confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and 14,510 confirmed deaths.

The response from our governments have been varied and slow as solutions to either contain the spread of the disease or to slow it down have resulted in the closure of many businesses, the practices of social distancing and the implementation of self-quarantine. The results of which have led to the closures of businesses, the layoffs of non-essential workers and global panic.

How To Choose Your Career

I was chatting with a recent high school grad who was sharing his concerns about how his parents wanted him to go to University and get a Masters Degree in something despite him being unsure what to take and to make matters worse, in his words, he was starting to feel useless because he was still unemployed.

He also mentioned to me that this problem was growing worse because he was an introvert and was uncomfortable meeting new people. Then he apologized for taking up my time!

Obviously, he is a good kid so the first thing I did was commend him for being honest with himself and for going out and seeking advice.

I suggested to him that not acting right now was a smart decision because he needed to figure a lot of things out about himself before making such a costly decision in both time and money.

I know too many people who have gotten themselves into extreme debt because of the cost of education, only to land a minimum wage job out of their field. How then are they supposed to pay...

Don't Let The Fear Of Failure Prevent You From Starting Something New

life Oct 26, 2019

This is a special blog post for me as it represents my first real attempt at starting something new. It's something that I've been wanting to do for a while now but haven't quite figured out how to begin. The more I looked into it, the more I realized that there was a lot to learn, especially if I wanted to make the impact that I'm striving for.

Many of us have a desire to try something new but for some reason, the thought of criticism holds us back from jumping in the ring. It's like being a boxer that's afraid of being punched in the face right? That fear of being punched is what motivates you to train harder and longer. You want to step in the ring knowing that you are as best prepared for the fight as you can possibly be, you want to believe that you have done everything possible to become victorious because you want your career to start of on a winning streak. So you train, you research, you study and you put off getting in the ring out of fear of losing your first fight....

How To Overcome Your Anxiety

life Sep 18, 2019

Out of all the disorders, anxiety affects the most. In the U.S. today, 40 million adults age 18 and above suffer with some form of anxiety but unfortunately only 36.9% ever receive treatment for it.

I have always suffered with social anxiety but I have also created many strategies to help mitigate its effect on my life from day-to-day. I've learned to live with it for the most part but there have been times in my life where the overwhelming feeling of anxiousness consumes me and leaves me struggling to catch my breath.

The worst attacks I have had has always been when I was presenting in front of people. You can now understand how the effects of my anxiety attacks has sabotaged my career during the most untimely moments of my life.
